Street-Smart II

Photographs
2011

The Street-Smart series progressed into documenting the remaining blight in post-recession New York City. With the help of Google Street View, I searched and scoured for street scenes or crumbling interiors that were present-day time warps into the 1970s-era of terminal decay. Using the portable module from Street-Smart I, I drove around the city to these particular areas and set up the module on the roof of my car as the foreground for new compositions. The resulting photographs depict seamless yet surreal imagery of the real and imagined urban condition. This version of the project was displayed at The Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
